Hell my dears,
It occurred to me that this journal has been somewhat neglected for the past 6 months so I have decided to update it... obviously. Hopefully it holds your attention, and hopefully I can hook you up with some new music and decent books to read.

In my last entry I stated that I was looking at PostSecret style pieces... It seems that one ws enough for me. I was working on another one but couldn't find the right words to express how I was feeling anout being neglected at the time. I had the image, I had conset, my vocabulary failed me. Now I am dabbling in poetic type pieces which follow no set tempo or style. I am quite the hopeless romantic (cue Bouncing Souls) and as such my poetic pieces address my fascination and love of love. I am beginning to express emotions from bliss to disappointment and especially my current situation of limbo.

Moving away from me chasing boys I would like to enlighten the masses of today with some of the music I am listening to and loving, and books I have recently read and think should be read by all.

Australia's latest sensation on the indie scene is a young lass by the name of Lisa Mitchell. She is a 19 year old songstress from NSW who first appeared on Australian Idol. She has the sweetest voice and the most beautiful lyrics echoing themes of love and disappointment with some catchy, upbeat tunes in between. You can find her website here [link] please check out her debut album Wonder

My guilty music pleasure at the moment is an Aussie pop-punk act from Australia. Short Stack
are a bunch of pubescent 16 year olds wearing their sisters' jeans and yet they some how appeal to me. Not the individuals per say but their sound. Extremely unpolished and somewhat horrific, listening to Short Stack's debut album, Stack is the New Black I hear echoes of early Blink-182. Whilst I do believe they will never compare to such a punk act, Short Stack appeal to the mainstream punk audiences... especiall the 14-16 year old girl group. Thus, Short Stack are my current guilty pleasure. [link]

As for books, I have read a shit load of novels since April when I was reaing The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood [link] which is one of my favourite novels. Some classics that are on the top of my "Re-Read" list are The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, [link] This is a lovely book of sin and vanity, hold your breath as you wait for his eventual demise. I spent my mid semester break reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy by JRR Tolkein, [link] I had never read it, but I am extremely glad I finally got around to it. Whilst the numerous names are sometimes hard to follow, the worlds Tolkein creates are amazingly captivating. And finally, my guilty pleasure series and hopelessly romantic holiday read is the Twilight saga, [link] It combines the complicated and secretive 'lives' of vampires (hot since Brad Pitt played Louis in Interview With The Vampire [link])with the turbulent love faced by teens. Whilst the writing is terrible and the amount of time it sets feminism back is atrocious, Twilight and its following novels is an excellent easy read for those summer days.

Briefly I will tell you want movies to go out and see. The main one being Quentin Tarantino's latest flick, Inglourious Basterds, [link] I am now completely in love with Tarantino's genius sense of dark humour, and whilst I seemed to be one of the only ones who found humour in this dark film about Nazi Germany, it made me wish that Tarantino had the ability to decide the world's fate. Especially if Brad Pitt was a gnarly American hit man given the job of "killing Nazis."

Anyway, I've exhausted my popular culture knowledge and hints for what to listen to/read/see this year. I am now going back to watching the Simpson Movie and chillin' on a Friday night. Hopefully I'll have some new pieces for you kids that shall hold your attention.
I greatly appreciate the views/comments/ :+fav:'s that I get, much love to all :)
